Mobile marketing – Straight to the (HCP’s) hip
Mobile communication has fundamentally changed the way we live and interact. How many of us have had entire conversations or worked out problems through text-messaging? Just over two generations ago it made more sense to walk to a person’s house and talk with him face-to-face, but in 2008 it’s odd that the foundation of pharmaceutical sales is still tethered to this dated approach.Since it’s become an accepted medium of communication, mobile devices are naturally poised to become a useful tool in pharmaceutical marketing. Mobile marketing is an emerging channel, with other industries proving out the concept already.
Most mobile marketing that you’ve probably seen has been used by pop culture, iconic television shows like “American Idol” for polling or “Deal or No Deal” by which viewers can participate in mini games via SMS text. Very few industries have leveraged mobile as an integrated marketing channel to date.
When you consider that the majority of healthcare professionals carry a mobile device on their hip for at least 18 hours out of any given day, the application of mobile by pharma to reach doctors is one of those “eureka” moments.
Mobile is an unclaimed frontier for pharma brandsâThere is essentially zero penetration into this marketing media, aside from some rogue applications being used by one or two brands on the planet. That means the first to plant the flag wins. Every pharma company will be looking to be first to own this space, and we are ready to roll immediately with fully implementable programs.
You pull the trigger, your brand goes mobile. It’s that simple.
